Introduction: As it is my personel philosophy that ASL events should offer more then the opportunity to play against different opponents, we usually have at Grenadier two tournament rounds where you can play large scenarios. This means also that there are only two scenarios a day and you mustn't play three scenarios a day. Hey, ASL should be fun - not stress. BTW, you even may play friendly only. There is no need to play in the tournament. Only make sure that there is another player available for friendly gaming. Grenadier might also be a good chance to play a friendly Campaign game. It's all up to you.

Tournament Points: The “Big” German ASL Tournament is a five Round Swiss style Tournament. Each round the players are offered three scenarios to choose one from to play. 4 Points are given to the players for each win they achieve in a scenario. A Draw is worth 2 points. 2 points are given for all games won by their (former) opponents (but of course excluding the win against the player himself). 1 point is deducted for each loss of their (former) opponents.

Finding an Opponent: All matches are done by the tournament director. Beginning with round two, only players with the same counts of wins (should) play each other. After five rounds (depending on participants) there will be only one undefeated player, who will be declared the tournament winner. In case of a tie the player with the most points will be declared the tournament winner.

Selecting a Scenario: After the opponents have find each other at the beginning of every round, they secretly record their preferences for this round.
Example

Preference Scenario
1. prefered Scenario Scenario xx
2. prefered Scenario Scenario yy
Delete Scenario Scenario zz

Both opponents then reveal simultanously their choices and there are three possibilities which are handled in the following sequence.

Selecting Sides: Side selection is done by using the Australian Balance System (ABS). Each Scenario comes with eight levels of handicap bidding -- Axis 1-3, Allied 1-3, and level 0 (no handicap) for each side - which can be found here. Note that the levels of bidding are typically cumulative. So a bid of G3 would include G2 and G1. These are handicaps-- the higher the level, the more that side gives up.

Both players first secretly record their bid and reveal it then simultaneously.

The results of the bidding are as follows:
